British Airways has revealed its top 18 holiday destinations for 2018, with everything from classic summer getaways to those off the beaten track.

Must-see locations were chosen for their relevance next year, from sporting events to TV series settings and recently opened routes.

Croatia made it into the top 18 thanks to its soaring popularity as a film set for Game of Thrones.

Nashville in Tennessee and the Seychelles were both chosen because of the new direct flights BA is offering there from the UK.

Despite increasing fears of World War 3 erupting after mounting tensions out of North Korea, South Korea has been named in the top must-see destination lineup.

Seoul, the country’s futuristic capital, is ideal to visit for its modern architecture, fascinating culture, holiday activities and local cuisine, according to BA.

The Winter Olympic Games will be hosted in PyeongChang in February, making this an ideal time to make the trek.

For the more adventurous traveller, Oman’s Muscat has been awarded a place on the 2018 list.

BA chose the city for its charming modern Arabian appeal, underpinned by pervading ancient roots.

Closer to home Scotland’s Inverness received a mention, as the gateway to the Scottish Highlands.

Other notable European entries were Lisbon in Portugal, Mykonos in Greece, Denmark’s Copenhagen and Malta.

Toronto, New Orleans, New York and Oakland rounded out the American entries.
